The Shandong Chamber of Commerce recently established a branch in Zhanjiang on Jan 6, aiming to help grow Shandong enterprises' ties with the Guangdong city.
The opening ceremony, hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Zhanjiang, was attended by more than 500 government officials, entrepreneurs, soldiers, and teachers.
The organization now has more than 40 prestigious members such as the papermaker Chenming Group and Zhanjiang Bohai Agricultural Development.
The organization has grown out of the Shandong commerce chamber's greater Guangdong branch also located in Zhanjiang. It was established in 2009 as a communication platform between its members and Guangdong businesses.
With Zhanjiang's increasing economic strength and improved investment environment, more and more Shandong merchants are seeking to do business with the city. The commerce chamber branch will provide targeted services to Shandong businesspeople in Zhanjiang, having first been approved by the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Zhanjiang City on Dec 8, and selecting its leaders on Jan 5.
Liu Lina, president of the branch said it will function as an economic bridge between Shandong and Zhanjiang, seeking mutual benefits and win-win results.
