On the Afternoon of December 3rd, Jiang Yikang, Party Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee met with Ernest Bai Koroma, President of Sierra Leone in Jinan.
Jiang Yikang welcomed President Koroma for his visit. He said that the President's special visit fully demonstrated the great importance attached by the President to Shandong Province and his aspiration for enhancing exchanges and cooperation. Shandong highly values the friendly cooperation with local governments and enterprises of Sierra Leone. We have witnessed increasing mutual exchanges and closer ties in sectors such as health and business in recent years. The medical personnels dispatched by Shandong have participated in technical cooperation project initiated by the Ministry of Commerce of China, and actively offered aid for epidemic surveillance and technical personnel training during the Post-Ebola phase, having good social benefits. Enterprises of Shandong Province have invested and established their businesses in Sierra Leone, and carried out cooperative programs in fishery, mining, etc. We hope that H.E. President Koroma could continue to follow and support the construction of related projects. Under the guidance of the consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Koroma, Shandong will earnestly implement the outcome of Johannesburg Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote friendly exchanges of all walks of life in Sierra Leone, encourage mutual trade and investment, strengthen cooperation on multiple fronts for win-win development.
President Koroma appreciated the great hospitality he had been given by Shandong Province. He said that Shandong dispatched professional medical personnels to aid the people of Sierra Leone to fight against Ebola at the most critical time during the outbreak in 2014. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the great support from Shandong. Sierra Leone is endowed with rich mineral resources, boasts great potential of cooperation with Shandong. Sierra Leone welcomes enterprises from Shandong for investment in mining, agriculture, tourism development and the construction of innovation zone and urban areas. Sierra Leone will actively learn from China for its successful experience on all fronts, enhance exchanges between political parties, further improve business environment, and provide better services for Shandong enterprises, and pursue even more fruitful cooperation achievements through joint efforts.
